Varför innehåller tinkturen alkohol?

Vi använder etanol eftersom vatten och alkohol tillsammans kan extrahera ett bredare spektrum av örtens naturliga växtämnen än vatten ensamt. Etanolen fungerar både som extraktionsmedel och hjälper till att bevara tinkturen.

Mängden alkohol per dos är mycket liten. 30–40 droppar av en tinktur med 40 % alkohol innehåller ungefär 0,6–0,8 ml ren alkohol. Det motsvarar ungefär alkoholen i 0,27–0,36 dl lättöl på 2,25 % – alltså omkring 3 cl lättöl.
