The healing power of herbs has been used for thousands of years.
Unfortunately, much of the old knowledge had fallen into oblivion.
Pharmacy Garden wants to bring you the knowhow and knowledge from places like Serbia, which has a strong tradition in homeopathy (Herbalism) where Dr. Josif Pančić Institute with nearly 200 employees ( 17 PhD) greatly contributed to a homeopathy science by preserving and developing it.

Many tinctures are
dissolved in Glycerol (E422). The advantage is that glycerol has a milder taste. The disadvantage is that Glycerol only dissolves water-soluble
substances.

In alcohol (ethanol) you get both fat-soluble and water-soluble substances dissolved
from the herb. Thus, ethanol is the most effective way to dissolve all the essential oils and bring out the full power of the herb.

Other advantages of ethanol are that the substances are easily absorbed in the body. With an ethanol tincture, the absorption takes place already in the mouth and the rest in the stomach. All the essential oils are already dissolved, and
ready to be absorbed by the stomach.

The alcohol causes the tincture to go directly into the body, and the ethanol does not have time to pass the liver. Ethanol tinctures also have a long shelf
life.

Ethanol tinctures also have major advantages over herbal pills. Herbal pills contain fine grind herbs in a capsule, which pass through the stomach to be
dissolve. Unfortunately, not all active substances in the herb are dissolved in the stomach before the transport continues towards the intestine and out. Thus, not all the active substances in the herb are precipitated and absorbed by the body.

This is why you dissolve a dried herb in hot water before consumption, or in ethanol. Then the body gets the essential oils already dissolved and can absorb them easily.

Hortus Salutem AB will introduce several herbal blends under the Pharmacy Garden brand over time. We want to secure that we grow with quality, and that you are 100% satisfied.

A herbal tea does not come from the tea bush as ordinary tea does. Instead, it consists of different herbal mixtures, where the composition determines effect. In order for a tea to be called herbal, the majority of the contents must consist of dried parts from herbs of various kinds. The herbal teas that do not contain leaves from the tea bush are naturally free of caffeine, while the teas that contain tea leaves also contain small amounts of caffeine.
Medicinal herbs have been used for thousands of years.
Unfortunately, much of its heritage and use, has been replaced by modern medicine.
Modern medicine actually is very much replicating what nature had already given us.
We at Hortus Salutem AB want to offer a natural substitute to the synthetically produced substances, that are a copy of the once found in our nature.

Synthetic medicines are often just a copied plant structure with a small change in the chemical structure so that it can then be patented. This is made, since you cannot patent already existing and made by nature.

The problem with coping a plant structure, is that it is made based on the theory that there is only one active substance in a plant.
But science is moving forward, and constantly advancing, and we today know that it is the complete chemical structure that is the active substance, not a single compound in the plant. As an example, at first it was thought that the active substance in Valerian was the essential oil, but in 1966 it was concluded that it was the Valepotriates, and finally in 1988 it was concluded that it was not known which of its substances was the active one, and concluded that the complete Valeriana plant works, not a few compounds of it.
The "problem" for modern medicine, is that nature's chemistry is that it is seldom is a single active substance but many substances together that make it the active and more or less side-effect-free medicine.

Herbal medicine is still the most widely used type of medicine in the world to this day. In many countries, but not in Sweden, you can study herbal medicine or phytotherapy at universities. In most countries, physiotherapist’s and doctors who work with natural herbal medicine are respected. It differs enormously from the ambient in Scandinavia.

Yes, it is!
Globally, we use about 100,000 tons of industrially produced medicine, which eventually finds its way into the nature. Studies from, among others, the University of Plymouth, UK, show that medical pollution is a growing problem – one of them, among other, resistant bacteria.
Herbs are already found naturally in our environment, and do not contribute to the environmental problems we see from industrially produced drugs.
